We will have a special practice for our 6 & Under swimmers on Saturday, June 3rd, from 8:00 am until 9:00 am. We will also have a Turn Clinic on the same morning for the 11-12 age group from 9:00 am-10:00 am.

This "meet" allows all of us to practice and to get times for all swimmers before the first official swim meet. Please plan to attend. The lineups for the first meet will be based on the times from the mock meet. Time Trials and the swim team breakfast will be on Saturday, June 10th. Plan to arrive at 7:30 am to get swimmer numbers and grab a bite to eat. We will need some volunteer timers. If you you have never timed at a meet before, this is a prefect opportunity to gain some experience for this volunteer role.

The North Raleigh Championship is scheduled for Sunday, July 16th and will be held at Ravenscroft. This additional "big" all-city meet provides an exciting opportunity for our swimmers individually and for us as a team. This meet is optional, but we would love to send as many swimmers to represent the Racers team as possible. It does cost money to participate, separate from your Racer swim team fees. An email will be sent out early in the swim season with more information.

All swim lessons are taught by the swim coaches. Lessons are strongly encouraged for all swim team members. Lessons help not only swimmers who are unable to swim alone, but also the older swimmers that would like to fine tune their strokes. Coaches schedule all lessons, receive all payments ($25 per 25 minute lesson) and handle all communications directly. You may speak to them on the pool deck when they are not coaching or teaching a private lesson. We are also working to put together some group lessons. Please check the club emails and this website for updates.

Please join us on Thursday, May 18th between 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm (Open House) for an ice cream social and an opportunity to meet the swim team coaches. You will be able to ask questions about the upcoming season. It is also a good opportunity to sign up for swim lessons. We will also have a swim suit fitting in the clubhouse at the same time. You can purchase your black swim suit from any vendor you like, we simply provide this as a courtesy.

Shawn Blaine - Head Coach Coach Shawn is returning to our Racers Coaching staff for his 4th year in the Head Coach position. Having grown up in Raleigh, Shawn was a summer league swimmer, a year round swimmer and he swam for his high school team at Sanderson High School. Shawn began coaching young swimmers when he was a Sr. in high school and continued to coach while attending college at ECU. Shawn began coaching for the Marlins of Raleigh year round swim team 7 years ago. He comes to our team with his many years of helping swimmers of all skill levels and ages achieve their goals in the sport. Summer league swimming holds a special place in Shawn's memories because it is what got him involved in swimming at the tender age of five. He looks forward to returning to the Greenway Club Racers team and seeing our returning swimmers as well as meeting all of our new swimmers and their families. He cannot wait to see the swimmers have fun and enjoy their progression throughout the summer. We are very excited to welcome Coach Shawn back again for another fantastic summer season!
